Image of the artist, a woman, sitting and wearing colorful clothing

Josiane Faubert’s oil paintings capture the quiet strength, beauty, and complexity of women, offering a window into deeply personal yet universally resonant experiences. Her figures exist in moments of contemplation and presence—reading, resting, or simply being—imbued with a sense of interiority and emotional depth. Through bold, expressive colors and dynamic compositions, she transforms everyday moments into powerful visual narratives, drawing inspiration from her Gabonese heritage and the world around her.

Josiane’s practice bridges traditional painting with her background in visual storytelling, creating a dialogue between personal history and broader cultural narratives. Her work has been exhibited in spaces such as the Masur Museum of Art’s 61st Annual Juried Competition, where she was awarded Second Place for The Forbidden Library. She is also a member of ARTMA, a community dedicated to supporting artists in their creative journeys.

Beyond painting, Joisane Faubert is the founder of PICHA Stock, a platform amplifying Afrocentric photographers in the digital space. She believes in the power of artistic communities and storytelling to shape perspectives, connect people, and inspire new ways of seeing the world.

Josiane lives in Seattle, WA.
